Pre-Engineering for the Planning Process

Groundwork have the experience of working through the planning process on a number of large and varied sites. We assist the planning process by the input of pre-engineering advice to provide opportunities and constraints on the planning layouts and strategies.

Feasibility Costings

Following initial planning for a site a feasibility costing can highlight a number of opportunities and constraints. These can input into the process and have a direct affect on the profitability and success of a project. Depending on the size of the project we can provide relatively quick costings of a planning layout and report issues that need to be addressed as the project is progressed.

Stormwater Hydrology and Hydraulics

Water management plans require the input from an experienced civil engineer to guide the outcome of water management studies. The recommendations in the studies directly affect the project costings and there are a variety of outcomes possible with varying affects on the costs. Groundwork has experience in the variety of different ground and drainage conditions of sites to understand the sensitivity of the outcomes.

Groundwork have up to date modelling software to provide dynamic modelling of the sites stormwater catchments. We use XPSWMM to model the site catchment and design options. This software has the power to model the variety of detention basins, WSUD components and a variety of storm events to fully understand the design requirements.

Detailed Engineering Design

Following the subdivision plan approval and preparation of a surveyors precalculation plan and detailed site survey we have senior designers to model the roadworks and earthworks and then detail the requirements for construction.

Construction Contract Administration

We have a technical and contract documents suitable for competitive tender bids. These are individually prepared to suit each project. Once a contract has been let we act as a Superintendent to administer the construction contract.

Peer Review

Many financiers will require the works contract peer reviewed prior to releasing payments. We undertake this on behalf of the financiers and have a detailed understanding of these requirements.

There are cases where clients will require a second opinion on a particular design and we have provided these with a relatively quick turnaround to assist in the progress of projects.
